As a component of my MFA thesis at Hunter, I'm looking for a sunny space in the five boroughs. Nothing big. I'm looking for a collaborator who has a yard or access to land with whom to design and install 6 layers of classic food-forest. Three climax trees max, and the supporting layers follow...a dozen shrubs, dozens of herbs, covers, flowers, roots, tubers, and bulbs, and climbers. I am flexible if people want to incorporate a shade-tolerant tree. I need a firm commitment soon so we can start planning and designing to install in April. I am propagating a lot of plant material at my studio in a little nursery operation, so as to cut down on cost and emphasize local food economy and self-sufficiency.
Please let me know if you or anybody you know is interested! Thanks very much, I can't believe it took me so long to find this group!! Jesse Sachs |

Hi Jesse, I have access to a space in Brooklyn. It is a south east facing corner. There is currently a mulberry tree and a few shrubs. I'm not sure what they are. I have had a soil test done. There are toxins in the soil so it would need raised beds. We can talk more about it. If your interested in working in Brooklyn. Emmy

It's not in the five boroughs, but the Purchase Garden at SUNY Purchase in Westchester County (Metro North to White Plains, 15-minute free bus to Purchase) is looking to install a forest garden. Soil at site has been tested and is clean, and it is located in a sunny area. Let me know if you're interested.

“ "hello, Jesse, my name is I, I have just join the meet-up March 1st, I will be taking the Permaculture Design Course with Andrew Faust at the end of March. I am interested in your food forest project. The place I have is situated on an east facing hill, at north shore of Staten Island, about 15mns walk from the ferry. how big a place do you plan to grow?” There are many vacant plots in our neighborhood as well.
