I am dedicated to making SURE that Senate Bill S510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, is defeated! I emailed 26 Permaculture Meetup Groups yesterday morning, with a combined membership of about 10,000 people. Already, interested replies have come in. I am trying to take this viral now because this bill CAN'T be allowed to slip through! I hope that the New York Permaculture Group feels as strongly about this issue as do other groups. Opposition to S510 is coming from across the political spectrum now as passage has suddenly become more likely in September with the egg recall which may have been timed to help pass the bill!

 

 Although public opposition shut the bill down last November and in June and July of this year, the recent egg recall has given the bill new support. Without massive email opposition, S510 is now likely to pass if put up for vote after Labor Day. Dr. Riba Laibow, Medical Director of the Natural Solutions Foundation said that several hundred thousand new emails will be required to defeat this bill again in September. So, please use the link below to email your senators even if you emailed them earlier. This prepared email is especially powerful because it specifically references the egg recall and says that it is no excuse to pass the bill.
