Although I grew up on a small scale farm in Maine, only after living in Brooklyn for the past few 8 years have wanted to"return to my roots." I've signed up for the Open Centers Perma certificate course and so am on my way to being a real permie!
I think porous pavement is simultaneously one of the most timely and late genius ideas ever.
I'm signed up for an Urban Permaculture certificate course through the New York Open Center which starts in mid-July and ends at the end of October. I may then take a rural course from the Finger Lakes Institute upstate.
I am currently starting a sustainability educational center/artist retreat/eco village upstate called Better Farm. Anyone who wants to get involved, check us out: www.betterfarm.org or blog.betterfarm.org
At Better Farm for sure, but not so much in my tiny, yardless Brooklyn apartment...I'll also volunteer around town and see if consulting gets me play time in someone else's space!
Always.
