I'm a student of permaculture and interested in sharing what I know and learning from others. new york city is ready for permaculture and i want to set things on fire... you know... in that figurative "green fire" kind of way...
i've read about rhizome theory on jeffvail.net and i like that it's decentralized and demands participation. there are too many things in the world that allow people to give up any sense of empowerment or responsibility.
i've been certified through the Fingerlakes Permaculture Institute (FLPCI) and am currently working on a curriculum and organizing courses for the NYC area through Green Phoenix.
interested in joining a landtrust, collaborative/collective buyer's groups, and or co-op type arrangements for goods and services. currently located in rego park, queens.
soon to approach building management about the strip of grass behind my building. working with Green Phoenix Permaculture and other permaculture groups in the area to approach local civic groups and organizations.
i'm more interested, at the moment, in getting some hands-on experience, but would definitely take another course, because the basics are always important to review and the course is done in many different ways, depending on who's teaching.
I'm always encouraged by meeting others who are growing awareness about current ecological crises and the complex problems we're embedded in, but who are also interested in positive, proactive solutions. Focusing on possible solutions and moving in that direction with each other's support and encouragement is very motivating as well. Much gratitude to everyone who is taking part.

Hi Alice,
Thanks very much for your note regarding last week's meetup. I hope all is well with your family. Maybe after I've attended a few more times, I'll have a better sense of the general format for the gatherings. I thought the teachers ( Andrew and Claudia) were going to present their current projects and that we would see examples of work in progress here in the city. It would be great to have specific topics to discuss each week.
Hey, are you going to the convergence this weekend? I'm going to go but I don't have a ride yet, are you traveling in a ride with an extra seat?
Thanks,
Malcolm

Hi Alice,
I joined thinking I may enjoy resting up there as a mommy retreat away from the family. I used to live at the ranch for 2 years and the land there is very restful to my soul. I was there when Swami Sankar ran the ranch and Swami vishnu was still alive and would come and stay. So it is a quiet place for me, but when I called a few weeks ago to organize a weekend away, nobody ever called me back, so I just figured I'd go elsewhere. Thanks.
Om Alice, just starting to work on the site. We can make changes as ourselves now and not as Nataraj.
Hello Alice, maybe we can catch eachother next sunday, Primitiva's been asking when we'll make it back up to Epworth and really wants to see you again soon Have an enjoyable week.
