The is first orientation for Imani Garden in the Crown Heights North section of Brooklyn.
Anyone wishing to a member for this planting season must attend.
The basic rules governing the garden will be covered, as established in the by-laws, including mandatory work requirements, standing committees, open houses, governance process as well as basic operating procedures for the garden. A brief overview of permaculture principles will be given by permaculturist Monica Ibacache who has taught at several permaculture sites including Camp Epworth and the Sivananda Ashram.
Imani Garden has 8 raised planting beds growing a variety of pesticide and herbicide free vegetables. It also has chicken coop with approx. 50 chickens and an egg CSA operated by Bkfarmyards.
The nearest trains stops are the A/C at Utica and Fulton and the 3/4 at Utica and EPW.
